Swapping
Basic Swap
Once you have registered with Swapaholic and added some items you are ready to start swapping.
Find an item you want using the search methods detailed above. Then click on the title of the item and a page will come up displaying the item details. Click on the 'Swap' button at the bottom of the page.
A new page will come up asking you whether you want to post the item for swapping or meet up with the other user to complete the swap. Choose the method you would prefer.
Note: If the other user is only willing to do one of these (e.g. only willing to meet for swap) you will be informed of this and can choose to Go Back if you no longer want to swap.
You also have the option to leave a comment which will be viewed by the user you want to swap with. This could be a question about their item or about the user themselves but must be relevant to the swap. You will be able to leave additional comments at a later stage.
Note about comments: Swaps must never involve money. Any mention of paying for other user's items is not allowed and can consequence in your accounts being deactivated.
It is possible to swap a mixture of items on Swapaholic (i.e. a book for a CD or a DVD for a game). If you only want to swap like for like, it may be worth mentioning this now in the comments section.
When you have chosen the method of the swap and entered a comment (optional), click 'Continue'. You will be taken to a page that displays the details of the swap you have started.
You have the option of cancelling this swap now or at a later stage if you have changed your mind (although once you have confirmed the swap you cannot cancel). You also have the option to add a comment.
When the other user next logs in, they will be informed that you are interested in swapping with them. If they are interested, they will choose one of your items and accept the swap. They will be given the option to leave a comment at this stage.
When you next log in after this has happened, you will be informed that they have accepted and will then be given the option to confirm the swap.
When you have confirmed the swap, both you and the other user will be given each other's details and can go ahead with the swap. If it is a post swap, you will be given the other user's postal address and if it is a meet swap you will be given their email address so that you can organise when and where to meet up.
When the swap has taken place you will be asked to leave feedback (more detail on this later).

Multiple Swap
An advanced feature of Swapaholic is the option to swap multiple items. This allows you to swap more than one item in one go, rather than starting several one for one basic swaps. This can be useful if you want to meet up with someone to swap and don't think it is worth it for only one item.
To begin a multiple swap, find the user you want to swap with using the search methods detailed above. Click on the username and you will be taken to a page displaying the user's details and the items they have. Select the items that you want then click 'Add item(s) to swap'. A box entitled 'Swap' will appear on this page showing you how many items you have selected and giving you the option to view these items, confirm the swap or cancel the swap.
If you want to view the items that you have added, click 'View Items' and you will be taken to a page displaying the items. You can delete one of these items by clicking on the red cross.
If you want to delete all items, click Cancel Swap.
When you are happy with the items you have selected, click 'Start Swap'. You will now be asked to put these items in preference order. The reason for this is if the other user doesn't want as many of your items as you do of theirs. For example, if you have selected 4 of their books but they can only find 2 of your books that they want, only the two books that you put as 1 and 2 will now be a part of the swap (3 and 4 will be disregarded).
Now select a swap method and optionally add a comment as you would do in a basic swap, then click Continue.
The other user will be informed of your interest and will have the option of selecting the number of your items (or less) that you selected of theirs.
The swap process then continues in the same way as a basic swap.
